Insight into the Writer: Artists I kept up with while away

As I mentioned in my post on the 1st, for awhile there I distanced myself or fell away from the Kpop world. And that doesn't mean I was away completely. That just means that I was not nearly as involved as I once was and definitely not in the loop with current groups or trends. Now there are a couple of artists that I managed to listen to the most and keep (somewhat) up to date on their music. 

BTS (of course) 

It's kind of hard to not be up to date with BTS music when they are the biggest superstars in modern day music all over the world. (So proud of our boys). So of course BTS music has been a constant while I was distanced. While I do love their recent music in English, I'm ready for some good Korean songs to come back. Making English music made sense since they are worldwide famous, but their Korean music always hit differently. Patiently waiting for that comeback. 

Chungha

The modern day K-music queen. Sort of like BoA back in 2nd gen. Her music is always good. Have not been disappointed as of yet with any of her comebacks. Was really easy to stay listening to her new songs as they always were just so good. Her voice, the choreography, everything was just perfect. 

ITZY

Surprisingly, I LOVE ITZY. When they released Dalla Dalla, I loved the song, but I kind of thought they were one of those groups that would have one hit and then something would happen and they'd fizzle out. But man their songs are good. Countless hours I have listened to them. Not Shy being my personal favorite. I have not really gotten into Cherry or even In the Morning so far. Maybe listening to them more times they will eventually grow on me. But this group is a powerhouse of talent. 

Blackpink (and all of their solos)

Talk about a powerhouse, whew. This is another group that's hard to NOT keep up with as they're worldwide famous as well. And for very very good reason. Their music is FIRE. Whether its as a group or solo, they kill my playlist every single time they release something. Lisa is currently running my life with 'Money'. But Rose's 'On the Ground' is my second favorite currently. That one took a couple listens (as in like 3) for me to get fully into but now it's one of my favorites. 

Day6

Not so surprising if you've ever read the blog before. Day6 was and is still one of my favorite groups of all time. It still haunts me I had to leave their concert in Minneapolis early due to anxiety. Literally have cried ugly tears at that fact ever since then and I think that was in 2019 LOL. Their music hits my soul on a different level than any other kpop group has managed to do. Belting their songs at the top of my lungs is the therapeutic equivalent to hugging an ultra fluffy dog. Like one of the goodest boys with the most hair that when you hug them, you sink in. That's what Day6 songs are to me. Lately, 'Healer' has been on repeat and I'm not ashamed to say my roommate has literally come out and asked me on multiple occasions "Didn't you just listen to that song like 5 times" Well yes, yes I did. And I will listen to it about 2 more times before going to the next one lol 

I had thought about it a lot if there was anything that was keeping me from or making me stick around Korean music. Really trying to get deep in thought about what caused me to fall out and what are factors that kept me hanging on to that part of my life. Turns out, it's just who I am. There were many people who always claimed it was just a phase and looked down on me for my interest and my field of study. And when I fell out from kpop I often wondered if they were right, but then found myself listening to old Korean songs still or even new ones that interested me. This is just who I am and depression really has a way of making you into someone you're not and makes you rethink everything that ever gave you joy and why it just didn't seem to do the trick anymore. So I thought it would be an interesting insight as to what music I still listened to while I was away.

Now.... Usually I comment something about each video but since this is the first time I am doing this,  I just got to the point but I will give my opinion about a few things.  

1. I only know 1 song from this list and you guessed it,  its BTS.  Now I know most of these groups/singers but not any of these songs.  How sad is that? 

2. IKONs song is new to the list.  

3. Why do they not just have a kpop list?  I get it,  these are still classified as kpop but.... Are they really?

Now I LOVE me some BTS, but honestly J-Hope has never been my bias. I've like him I think he's funny just not my personal bias.  Ive kind of laid off writing this one in fear of the army, but when I finally listened to it. These are my thoughts.

1. WHERE THE H E DOUBLE HOCKY STICKS DID YOU COME FROM.
2. Why are there so many talented rappers in BTS.
3. J-Hope showed up to kill the game
4. Why did I not see him before.... oh right Suga
5. If you don't work with yo bad self.
6. I can hope for some more J-hope.

I really liked his singles he came out with. He definitely earned my respect and I hope he earns yours.

Now let's talk about his videos.

Daydream 





 I was kind of taken back by the beginning. I wasn' really expecting the vibe of the song.  But the laid back "good vibe only" type feel of the song I real like. He really has a good groove on this song and I like it.

My favorite from his mix tape Hope World I like is...

I will say I give J-Hope props on this whole mix tape he did a good job and earns my respect.

BTS - Dimple

This is the cutest song in existence. About a boy who's in love with a girls smile and more specifically, her dimples. So much so that he thinks it should be illegal. And he's calling her "illegirl". That part makes me giggle so hard... Illegirl. Genius. Adorable. Winner winner chicken dinner. 

This song is actually one of my favorite songs by BTS. Weird, right? These days I find myself loving the not-so-trendy songs because the trendy songs are way overplayed. I recently refound this song thanks to Spotify. I had completely forgotten this song existed. So when it came on my daily mix I was like "OH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! A SONG I'M NOT TIRED OF HEARING" and have been playing it often ever since. I get really tired of trendy songs sometimes. Because when they first come out (like Mic Drop or Go Go) I love them and so does everyone else. So I play them alot and then everyone in my house plays them alot.. And then everyone in the world plays them alot.. And youtube plays them every other song... And I get so sick of them. HAHA. 

But this song I've yet to get tired of, mainly because I'm the only one in my family who likes this song right now. Score!

26. KARD - Don't Recall

Now this was my JAM! And honestly I don't even like the English version. I know, I know. That's a crime. And what's funny is I love the dance version better. Why, you ask? Probably because of BM's body rolls. If you don't understand my love of BM I dare you to look up the KARD label on this blog... You'll find out real quick. Hahaha

27. Day6 - I Wait

Ah yeaaa! This song had a really weird sound to it when I first listened to it and honestly I couldn't tell if I liked it or not. But I QUICKLY warmed up to it.  I emphasize quickly because I think I did a post about it not being my favorite.. and the next day I was literally jamming to it on repeat. 

28. Twice - Likey

Let me tell you what is the most priceless thing about this song.. The fact that Bunny likes it. And what's so special about that is... If you read any of her posts, she's a rap girl. And the occasional kpop group. Absolutely no girly girl groups. So her constantly going around everywhere going "Me likey likey likey!" was the most hilarious thing I've ever seen. 

29. Seventeen - Don't Wanna Cry

I found out this year that I'm actually a bigger fan of Seventeen that I had originally thought I was. Especially through this song. Also I feel like I should mention that I did like 'Clap' also, but not enough to be on this list or even an honorable mention. But I'm always so fast to say 'Well I'm really not that big of a Seventeen fan...' and I thought I was telling the truth.. Nope, was lying. I like them more than I thought because every song that comes on my playlist from them I jam to... Lol

30. iKON - B-Day

This is my HYPE SONG. I don't know what it is about this song that makes me want to just destroy stuff... But it really does. Like Crooked by G-Dragon does to me also but not to that extent. But I seriously go crazy to this song. This is my favorite song by them. and I don't even know why. It just is. 

31. Red Velvet - Peek A Boo

Admittedly, Red Velvet is another group I'm so fast to say that 'I'm not a fan of' and yet again I thought I was telling the truth. This is an even bigger lie than Seventeen... Because Red Velvet has really moved up on my group list this year. I did not like this song at first. I don't typically like any Red Velvet song when I first hear it... It has to come on multiple times before I'm like 'Okay, this isn't bad. I feel this' 

32. Winner - Fool

This song is so amazing. I always forget about it most of the times... And in the Save or Pass games on Youtube I usually always pass it because they put it up against more of my favorite songs.. But I love this song so much. 

33. Day6 - I Smile

The opening line of this song had me hooked. Half the time I can't even tell you why I like a Day6 song. I just can tell you that I freaking love it. Because I just do. 

34. EXID - DDD

After Solji got really sick, I was really worried about how this group was going to continue, but this was actually a solid comeback! 

35. EXO - Ko Ko Bop

Shimmy Shimmy Ko Ko Bop, I think I like it! I think the best part of this song was the Ko Ko Bop challenge that went around this year. It was so cool!

36. Sunmi - Gashina

Now this song was my song for a long time. I am not a huge fan of Sunmi. Like I don't 'not' like her, but I don't usually love her songs... So this was so surprising that I loved this song.

37. NCT 127 - Cherry Bomb

That thumbnail. Hahaha. I do love me some NCT, but this song wasn't my very favorite song this year. Still amazing, just not the best one of this year IMO.

38. Girls Day - I'll Be Yours

This is another one I forget about in general, but I forget it came out this year! I like Girls Day a lot.

39. Day6 - You Were Beautiful

This song... The lyrics are so so so sad to me. And it's such a beautiful song. <3

40. BTS - Go Go



You're all going to hate me... But this song and Mic Drop were my JAMS. I never loved DNA. And it didn't make sense to me that everywhere BTS was performing they were performing DNA when it wasn't even their best song from this comeback. This is probably my 2nd favorite song from this comeback. First being the original Mic Drop.

41. One - Gettin By



I honestly can't tell if I like this song better or Heyahe. His debut was probably one of the best ones this year. And he's just so adorable how could you not love him?

42. Jay Park - Yacht



Oh god. This song.. Has been on repeat for the past 2 days for me. I literally can't get enough of this song! This is my jam and this will be on repeat for like the rest of the week... This man is so sexy, yall. Dannnng.

43. Day6 - Say Wow

You make me say wow! Now I like this song.. I don't LOVE it. But it's still good. 

44. Block B - Shall We Dance



This song has been stuck in my head for a few weeks now. It will not go away!! I LOVE this song. I love Block B in general. I'm not feeling U-Kwon's hair, but you can tell he is! And that's all that matters!

45. Day6 - My Day



I find this song so cute and I love it!!

46. Wanna One - Energetic



How could I not love the group which has Minhyun from Nu'est in it? Right? But this song was probably my favorite of theirs. It's so catchy and I love all of them <3

47. The Rose - Sorry



BEST. DEBUT. OF. 2017!! Hands down the best song that was ever released this year. This song was just the best. This group is just the best. I just love everything about this group and their members and the talent they all have. So much mad respect for this group. The minute I heard this song I was HOOKED! I mean head over heels in love with them. I want to meet all of them and just hug them and tell them thank you for this song and their music. They're just THAT good.

48. Taeyang - Darling

This is actual the only song I've liked by him lately. I really loved this song.

49. Day6 - I Would

So. Let's talk about this song. This is my favorite Day6 song to date. Young K singing, as always, just soothes my soul. Especially in this song. I love everything about this song. A lot of people don't really appreciate the songs that aren't their title songs, but man you all should really give this song a listen. This song is life.

50. KARD - You In Me

I won't go into how much I love KARD for this one, instead I'm going to go into how much J.Seph killed it in this song. Guys, he KILLEEEEEEEEED it! You can tell especially the past 2 days who my bias in this group actually is... With my undying love for BM.. But in this song, J.Seph was the star. And I loved it. <3

I do feel the need to put some honorable mentions. Reason being, I just love these songs and I couldn't completely leave them out of the posts. 

Taemin - Move



The dance to this song is so skillful and sensual and I just LOVE IT.

Another hype song of mine. This song makes me DANCE!

HAS Shanea's Songs of 2017! Part 1

Being 100% honest, these posts are going to be LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG. This being because 2017 was a good year for music for me. I'm actually going to choose 50 songs.. Why? Because there's a whole lot of songs I loved last year. So, of course, part 1 will have 25 songs and part 2 will have 25 songs. Easy enough. There's no set order , I'm not ranking them.. But there is the fact that I have 1 group who has like over 10 songs on this list so I'm going to separate the artists with multiple songs up evenly between both posts and in each post so one group isn't all in one place. 

So let's jump right in with the first 25. 


1. KARD - Rumor



Probably my favorite song of all time of KARD's. Obviously I have to put it on this list. Though I will admit that I didn't actually start liking this song until I went to the KARD concert back in May. BTW, I highly recommend breathing the same air as BM. It's mesmerizing. 

2. Day6 - Hi, Hello



This song is actually my second favorite song from Day6. It's soft and has a good flow to it. Plus the lyrics are so adorable and meaningful. My favorite being: "You are you, I am me
"We lived without knowing each other but With a hello
You and I became a we"

3. Twice - Heart Shaker



This song is probably the single most worst song in the universe. Why? Because it's literally been stuck in my head for the past 3 weeks. IT WON'T GO AWAY! It's the attack of the Twice!!! No seriously, I love this song so much.

4. iKON - Bling Bling

This... This is my JAM! This iKON killed it this year!!




5. Red Velvet - Red Flavor



Honestly, I didn't like this song when it came out. But after hearing it once on The Unit, that was long gone. It's so catchy!!!!

6. Winner - Really Really



One of my absolute favorite songs of the year. And my favorite Winner song to date. Really Really, it is. And trust me, that's pretty hard.

7. EXO - The Eve



This is mah song. This dance practice is my life. No, seriously. With this dance practice, Xiumin worked his way up my bias list quite a bit and Sehun became official bias wrecker. Sebooty. Dude. He killin me. How can someone in jeans and a t shirt be so utterly sexy? I don't understand it. This dance is just so sexual to me also. Everything about this was just made for me.

8. Day6 - Man in a Movie



So remember earlier when I said that a single group had over 10 songs on this list? Yeah, you can probably guess what group that is. This one. And it's not even all their title songs for EveryDay6. This year has just been an amazing year of Day6 that has made me so happy. This song is great :)

9. NCT-127 - Limitless



My absolute favorite song ever by NCT. And that's another hard one because this group has killed it this year. This song was just so amazing. 

10. BTS - Mic Drop (the original)




While I do like the remix, the original is just unbeatable. The original Mic Drop is just my jam! MIC MIC BUNGEE!

11. One - Heyahe



This song was SO good! And he's not too bad to look at either!

12. SiK-K, ph-1, Jay Park - iffy



Now, I don't normally like this kind of music. I'm not very big into the rap scene... But Bunny got me so hooked on this song! It's so catchy and SiK-K just makes me giggle sometimes.

13. Day6 - I'm Serious



This song is just amazing. And Young K in this music video just kills me <3 He's so adorable and I just love him!

14.DPR Live - Martini Blue



This song is my freaking JAM. Like and again, I don't normally like these types of song. However, this song is so unique. And the mm mm mm mm's.. I was really feeling this song. Still am!

15. Stray Kids - Hellevator



Funny, I actually introduced Bunny to this song and now she loves them even more than I do. But this song is great! And I love the lyrics!

16. Blackpink - As if it's Your Last



Huge fan of Blackpink. And this song was so good! It's definitely my favorite Blackpink song so far. And I've turned into a huge Lisa fan. I never really had a bias before this, even though I loved Lisa. But now it's official and she is my bias.

17. U-Know - Drop



Ooooooohooooooohoooooooooo. This song. This man. This dance. This everything. THIS... Was one of the best songs of the year, in my honest opinion. I love that he came back from the military with a vengeance!! He was out to slay all these ladies. And he succeeded so hard. This... This is just... Mind blowing.

18. Day6 - What Can I Do



Again with another Day6 song. Man I love this song. But honestly, it had to grow on me... I wasn't THAT fond of it at first. But it turned out okay. And now I like it.

19. MAP6 - I'm Ready



MAP6 is easily one of my favorite underrated groups. Sad because of just how underrated they are. This song wasn't as good as Swagger Time, but of course, I really don't think they can beat Swagger Time. That being said, it's still a really great catchy song!

20. BAP - Hands Up



I like BAP anyways, but this comeback was really good to me. Plus look at that thumbnail. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh.

21. Day6 - Dance Dance



Hana, dul, hana, dul, set...

Those few little words.. Just those words... And Dowoon's smile... Is enough to warm up Elsa's super powers to a point where they don't even exist anymore. Ice queen nevermore after that.

22. Monsta X - Dramarama



This isn't my favorite song by Monsta X by a long shot, but nevertheless it's still a good song!!

23. Twice - Knock Knock



This was my favorite Twice song for a longgggg while. It's so cute!! And the dance is adorable. And JYP in the music video made me so happy hahaha.

24. Day6 - How Can I Say



Last Day6 song for this part 1. And one of my favorites. This was the first one they released that had more rocky undertones rather than soft rock it was a little harder. And it was my favorite for like ever. This song got my hyped. Head banging and everything. Hahahaha.

25. KARD - Hola Hola



To be completely honest here... For this to be their official debut song... It was slightly disappointing. Not because it was bad, oh god no. This song is amazing. But I feel like debuting with Rumor would have been pretty awesome. But then again, who am I to say anything about that? God, Shanea.. They're doing just fine without your input. Sheesh. BM mah baby. Just letting you all know.. I call dibs. And I got to breathe the same air as him. As much as I love J.Seph I feel like the picture I took with them would have been hella more epic if I was next to BM. Nevermind. We don't need a picture of me passing out. Because I'd die. Just letting ya know. Breathing his precious air was hard enough as it is.. 
*caution - extreme exaggerations I wouldn't die... At least not for good.. Just for a few seconds.. BM Marry me.*

KDQ's Thanksgiving "Thanks"

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

I am so sorry that I have been MIA. School and externship and kids (oh my) have taken up every bit of my time lately. The end is coming soon though and all will be back normal. I wanted to at least write a blog for Thanksgiving, so here goes!
