샤내's Thankful Party: Day 3

Day 3 of things I'm thankful for:

Kimchi.

Kimchi courtesy of my culinary goddess, Vanecia. You rock my world, love.

Specifically homemade Kimchi. Like I will eat the kind that's sold in stores, but there's something so different about homemade kimchi. No, like you have no idea how serious I am.

I love the taste of Kimchi anyways, however, one of the main reasons I love kimchi (especially homemade) is because of the fact that it helps with most of my digestion problems. I suffer from so many digestive problems you would not even believe. But after my friend brought me a big thing of homemade kimchi she had made for school, the weeks after eating it I felt so much relief.

I had received an email from a reader awhile back about an article she had written about kimchi and it has been used on a blog before now, but I feel like this article is super helpful and relevant to my topic today so I will definitely share it again.

It's absolutely crazy just how much kimchi can help with so many things.

I do recommend making your own kimchi rather than buying it. If your only option is to buy it, then by all means do so. The reason for this is that storebought kimchi isn't really fermented like it needs to be. In making your own kimchi, you know that it really IS fermented because, well, you made it! And also you can adjust the spice levels to what you prefer.

The article I included has a kimchi recipe itself, however, I personally have experience with Maangchi's recipe. And can tell you 100% it's really good. In fact, I'm actually fixing to make a big thing of it this month. Hahaha

Sigh... All of my Kimchi is gone so I'm kimchi-less until the end of the month. ㅜ.ㅜ

KDQ'S 30 THINGS ABOUT ME!! ~ Day8

Welcome back to another day of things that I HATE!!

Before I start this one I just want to ask for forgiveness. I feel like this is a betrayal to all Koreans and Korea lovers.

GOCHUJANG

Yes, I said it. And I just realized how much I actually can not STAND this stuff. I bought some rice cakes last year I believe and the tteok-bokki sauce and it was horrible. To me, it tastes like a spicy tasteless spaghetti-o sauce.

I didn't realize 100% until yesterday when I tried this product I had found at my local Kroger and was SUPER EXCITED to try. YUCK is the only thing I could say. I then found out it was because it had the nasty in it!! HAHA

What are some foods or spices that you just can not stand? Let me know!!
